Eight of Pentacles

Craftsmanship • Pride • Spiritual Peace

The Eight of Pentacles is a card that speaks to your career and skills. It usually appears as a message of encouragement that you are doing the right thing.

This is the “hard worker” card. It’s a very positive symbol, especially if you are trying hard to master a new skill. This can be a sign of an upcoming apprenticeship or otherwise directed education. If you are a teacher and you receive this card, it can mean that you will experience good engagement and feedback from your student(s) soon.

Unlike most of the other pentacles cards, this card does not only imply financial gain. It signifies spiritual wealth, a happiness and pride in one’s work and life purpose. Even if no one notices, know that you are taking yourself to a higher level.

Eight of Pentacles Reversed

Perfectionism • Bored • Lack of Direction

Reversed, the Eight of Pentacles can represent a paralyzing perfectionism. Unfortunately, perfectionism does not result in perfect work. (Because that doesn’t exist.) It usually results in no work done plus a high level of anxiety. It’s no way to be productive. It’s like running with a sore ankle. In order to let go of your perfectionism, seek a mentor that will you give honest, constructive feedback.

The Eight of Pentacles reversed can also signify that you are bored or lacking direction. However, it still maintains the positive energy of the upright Eight of Pentacles. This card reversed can serve in a reading as a hint that you have peaked where you’re at and should pursue a higher calling. You’re ready for it.
