Death is the sign of an ending. It doesn’t usually mean human mortality. In fact, this is rarely an unpleasant card to get in a reading. Death is usually a positive ending such as the end of a challenging time. Mourning is a normal part of Death. Even if you know intuitively this is for the best, it may hurt. The sweetest and richest melodies are often the most bittersweet.

Death Reversed

When it comes down to it, Death is about change and a fresh start. Getting this card reversed is a sign of imbalance. You feel stuck because you’re hanging onto something that should be “dead” or gone by now. Death reversed signifies a resistance to a difficult transformation, but as a major arcana card, it means you have protection over you as you complete this part of your journey. You don’t have to be fearless, but it is time for a change.
